Eine Sammlung von ausserordentlicher Geschlossenheit/A Collection of Unusual Completeness

The Gallery of Rectors of the TU Wien, which spans without a single gap from the first rector in 1866 to the recent past, formally represents an uncommonly complete collection. Originated at the initiative of Wenzel O. Noltsch, Professor of Figure and Landscape Drawing, the collection continued to grow and expand. It reflects more than 130 years of history at the TU Wien as well as social, cultural, and artistic transformation.
The current volume presents the portraits and short biographies of the 107 rectors of the TU Wien and its predecessor institutions to date. It also features the origin, history, and artistic design of the collection.
