Drawing upon the work of prominent industrial and political economists, the book examines the implications, for both East and West, of radical, ongoing technological, organizational and socio-political transformations. It argues that it is these processes, rather than market forces per se, which will influence the problems and possibilities of economic and social progress in the new Europe.
