Today's society is committed to quality and permanence in dealing with the built environment, in the spirit of a sustainable architectural culture. At the same time, the contemporary goal of constructing net/plus-zero buildings looks more in both utilization of solar energy and abandonment of all CO2-based energy sources. Along this vector, this book proposes an in-depth investigation into a novel compact unglazed Solar Thermal Facade (STF) system. The delicate single-embossed panel is much simpler, more economical, and aesthetically appealing with easy installation (plug & play) for both restoration and new construction projects. It followes the basic methodology of combined theoretical and experimental analysis, techno-economic feasibility analysis and building integrated design strategy based on BIM concept. It is expected to be useful for both architects and engineers to configure a feasible solution for solar technology application, to enrich architectural expression in multi-functional facades, as well as to facilitate synergistic building for a better modern life in a networked world.
