The book attempts to focus on the methodologies for carrying the ergonomic research on load carrying activities in systematic and concise manner and it investigates changes in the physiological responses and perceived exertion due to loads, modes, grades and environmental conditions, the most critical factors in the hill-women's life. Generation of anthropometric data on hill women is required to develop appropriate technologies for their better health and well-being. This book also contains information regarding development of external frame backpack which was tested in the field and laboratory conditions. The developed L-shaped external frame backpack brought down the level of physiological cost and perceived exertion, and also did not cause any uncomfortability, pain in joints while carrying loads as reported by the hill women.
