Hormones control and coordinate the body metabolism, energy level, reproduction, growth and development, response to injury, stress. The endocrine system is a messenger system comprising feedback loops of the hormones released by internal glands. Exocrine system includes a series of glands all over the body. These glands secrete substances including sweat, breast milk, mucus and oil. The pituitary gland is located at the base of the brain. Thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of the neck. It's responsible for the metabolism. Parathyroid:These four tiny glands are no larger than a grain of rice. They control the level of calcium in the body. For the heart, kidneys, bones and nervous system to work, one should need the right amount of calcium. Adrenal: Two adrenal glands, one on top of each kidney. They control the metabolism, blood pressure, sexual development and response to stress. Pineal: This gland manages sleep cycle by releasing melatonin, a hormone that causes to feel sleepy. Pancreas: Pancreas is part of endocrine system, and it plays a significant role in the digestive system. It makes a hormone called insulin that controls the level of sugar in the blood.
