Biomedical waste management

The study is aimed at finding out the knowledge, practices and the effects of poor biomedical medical wastes among health workers.Its encompasses a descriptive cross sectional study design was carried out from August 2022 to March 2022, Respondents were interviewed using precoded questionnaires designed in English and collected data was analysed using SPSS version 20.0.Respondents had some knowledge about any discarded biological products like cotton swabs and blood from wards being regards as medical wastes. Practices of health workers about poor biomedical waste management were disposing all kinds of wastes into a general bin.In conclusion, there is need to institute deliberate interventions by Katabi Military Hospital to provide clean dust bins and sanitation facilities to ensure the safe disposal of solid wastes thus government and other stake holders should ensure that health workers receive training on how to manage biomedical waste of any form and supplies to be used should be readily available and should be taught on how to use them.
