Molar Incisor Hypomineralization

Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) is a unique developmental defect of enamel, affecting specific regions of the dentition. Its ubiquitous presence in all geographical regions with significant adverse clinical symptoms makes it a public health problem requiring early detection and treatment. This type of enamel hypomineralization brings painful consequences, poor aesthetics and a negative impact on the quality of life. It is easily discernible in children and young adolescents who present with early destruction of recently erupted molars and incisors with complaints of hypersensitivity and pain in the affected teeth.
