Heavenly Bread

Since time immemorial, bread has been a symbol for all essential foods. But obviously man knows not only a hunger for the material bread, but also a hunger and a longing for dimensions that go beyond the everyday material. For in many cases the souls of men, in their questioning of the meaning of suffering and pain, past and future, cannot be satisfied by material food. That is why they go in search of spiritual food, as we encounter it in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And this is precisely why Christ tells us in the Gospel of John (Jn 6:51): "I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever and ever." The task of the sermon is now to teach all people in such an elementary and "nourishing" way how to help, comfort and redeem themselves through Jesus Christ. Basically, it is supposed to pass on "heavenly bread" to feed souls. And exactly this is also the task of the sermons presented here, which is why "Bread in Heaven" was chosen as the title and motto for this fourteenth volume of sermons by the author.
