Technology and National Security

National security is of prime importance to any nation. One of the most spectacular characteristics of the late twentieth century is its complex and rapidly changing technological environment. It was proven, beyond a shred of doubt, that a technological edge is definitely a great enabler for national security in present day war An array of emerging technologies is fuelling Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) with the twin aims of maintaining competitive edge and enhancing combat potential. As a result, the battlefield milieu of the future would be vastly different from that of the past and will keep changing as a continuum based on technology up gradation and proliferation. The future will witness an increasingly intense struggle between Nation States for control and supremacy of this powerful space. National Security refers to the requirement to maintain the survival of the Nation through the use of political, military and economic power and the exercise of diplomacy.
