Detailed information

Warhol carries a camera everywhere he goes. He shoots celebrities, entertain ers, writers, avant-garde artists, body- builders, wrestlers, eccentrics, and ur ban street poor. This collection has been selected from a 10-year archive. Warhol's eye catches the odd contra diction, the outlandish, the amusing, the touching. It is never contemptuous. The cumulative effect tells us some thing about contemporary America be yond the familiar picture-magazine view. The text is unabashedly jingo istic, with a truth-telling oratory style not unlike that of Will Rogers, with ech oes of Mark Twain. Sentences are short and simple, with child-like observa tions about familiar things, the whole laced with a generous amount of com mon sense.
