Detailed information

John Stuart Mill (1806-1873 AD) - the author of this book - is considered one of the most important minds of his time. He is an English liberal political and economic thinker and philosopher. He was known as one of the pioneers of classical economic thought. His most important achievement was in political economy and not in philosophy, but he built his economic thought on philosophical foundations, aiming for a world governed by a moral and social vision. He defended individual freedom, equality, democracy, and women''s rights, attacked religious fanaticism, and called for compulsory education. This book, "On Liberty," was first published in London in 1859, and Mill sparked controversy over it by trying to combine a model of "ideal socialism" with adherence to individual freedom, democracy, and freedom of initiative and competition. On the one hand, he opposed the concept of private property, and considered it an illegitimate and unjustified concentration of wealth, but he did not demand its abolition, but rather contented himself with refusing to inherit it, and subjecting it to the requirements of the interests of society. He saw land as a gift from nature, not the product of labour; Therefore, no individual can possess it except by force and by tyranny. On the other hand, he feared that the state would be ruled by an absolute executive power, dehumanizing its citizens and making them equal in slavery.
