In the days of time forgotten, we rode from the plains of the Caspian Sea, to the northern shore of the Black Sea. In the misty days of our distant past, we rode against them. We lost to Pompey the Great then sixty-six years before Christ. In the time of our forefathers, our kinsmen rode against them again.They were defeated at Zela then by their General Julius Caesar, forty-seven years before the Christ. I am Perun, a horseman of the Alani, named after our god of thunder and lightning. I ride south across the Danube River to meet with our allies the Goths and ride against their Emperor Valens toward the battleground at Hadrianopolis.
