Detailed information

Bitter gourd (Momordica charantia L.) is one of the commercially important cucurbitaceous vegetable crops and it is extensively grown throughout the country for its nutritive value and medicinal properties. Among the several factors related to vegetable production, nutrient management is one of the key factor for achieving higher yield and better quality of the crop. Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) is essential for maintaining soil fertility, ensuring ecological sustainability, and enhancing the productivity of vegetable crops. A balanced combination of organic manures, chemical fertilizers, and biofertilizers can sustain crop productivity, preserve soil health, and supplement the nutritional requirements of crops. This book is designed to encompass ten different treatments were applied, varying in nutrient composition and organic inputs. Results showed that the treatment involving 100% RDF of NPK + FYM 5t/ha + Biofertilizers 4kg/ha exhibited superior performance in terms of growth, yield and flowering parameters. the soil fertility status also improved, making this integrated approach economically viable with higher net returns and a favorable benefit-cost ratio.
