Shetland Islands

Lying far to the north of Scotland, the Shetland Islands form an extraordinary archipelago, unparalleled in Britain for their beauty. In the summer months, the sun barely dips below the horizon, and at midsummer there is the famous ‘simmer dim’. Living in such close proximity to the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, the sea’s ever-changing moods leave a deep impression on those who live on or visit the islands, and many islanders are reliant upon the surrounding waters for their livelihoods.
