Detailed information

The technique of superior and anteroinferior plate placement is compared. The first technique is the most used; however, the second technique does not use X-rays in the operating room because it has direct and accurate visualization of the length of screws, reduces neurovascular lesions and reduces secondary interventions with economic reduction in health. Proving to be more effective. Objective: To evaluate the advantages of the anteroinferior versus superior plate placement technique for mediodiaphyseal clavicle fractures.Material and methods: A case series study was conducted in three private clinics in the city and in a public hospital, between 2017 and 2021. Forty male patients between the ages of 18 and 30 years were studied. Results: In all cases a 6 to 10 hole, 3.5mm reconstruction plate was placed in anteroinferior position. There were no complications. They consolidated at 1.5 months with good functional outcome. Conclusions: The technique of plating in the anteroinferior position offers early return of shoulder function, avoids the risk of neurovascular injury, and has a low rate of implant protrusion.
