Detailed information

The Academy is an institution for the study and teaching of Public and Private International Law and related subjects. Its purpose is to encourage a thoroughand impartial examination of the problems arising from international relations in the field of law. The courses deal with the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject, including legislation and case law. All courses at the Academy are, in principle, published in the language in which they were delivered in the Collected Courses of the Hague Academy of International Law. Volume 195 contains: Changement et continuité du droit international. Cours général de droit international public, par Ph. CAHIER, professeur à l'Institut universitaire de hautes études internationales de Genève. Changements et Continuité du Droit international General Course on Public International Law, Philippe Cahier The topic of this course by Philippe Cahier, Professor at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, is to verify if international law, when taking into account its origins, has undergone substantial modifications following the second World War and the radical changes it provoked, or if, when we look beyond the often hasty criticism to which international law is subjected, these modifications are in fact minor, given the need for international law to adapt to new requirements. Philippe Notebook chooses to devote his general course on public international law to what he considers the fundamental elements of international law, that is, the sources of international law, responsibility and dispute settlement. The discussion of these subjects is preceded by a study of the major principles of international law.
